About THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY OF TEACHERS’S TRAINING, EDUCATION PLANNING AND ADMINISTRATION:

The West Bengal Legislature passed an Act, which the Governor approved, creating the West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning and Administration. The West Bengal Act XXI of 2014, also known as the West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning and Administration Act, was passed in 2014. (published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, January 16, 2015). With 457 affiliated colleges at present, this university is one of the largest of its type. Prof. (Dr.) Soma Bandyopadhyay serves as vice chancellor.

The University was established with the goal of achieving academic achievement via research and scholarship to produce excellent instructors for students and important members of society. The University intends to do this by serving as the central hub for all teacher-training institutions in West Bengal, including centres of learning and research.

The B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programmes are offered by the West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning, and Administration (WBUTTEPA) in Kolkata. To oversee Teacher Education at all levels, as well as related Planning and Administration in the State, in accordance with the directives from all regulatory agencies, with particular attention to The National Council for Teacher Education.

To identify and track the use of innovative courses in teacher education at the undergraduate and graduate levels; to initiate and materialise quality research in teacher education at the international level; to offer degrees and other academic distinction; to confer honorary degrees in teacher education in the prescribed manner and under the prescribed conditions; to conduct and organise seminars, workshops, symposia, and exchange programmes.
