On September 7, 2013, Indira Gandhi University Meerpur, Rewari, was founded. The university is devoted to making every effort to help students develop into well-rounded persons with deeply embedded moral principles as well as great professionals. The university's campus is located in the village of Meerpur, some 10 kilometres from Rewari's district headquarters and 300 kilometres from Chandigarh, the state capital. It has excellent rail and road connections. Located on a plot of ground that is around 100 acres large, it is well-planned with modern structures.

Both the Maharana Pratap Boys Hostel and the Rani Laxmi Bai Girls Hostel are located on the site. The university students might also follow the hostel on their own. Both houses are equipped with all the necessities for the comfort and security of the college students.
